An early interest in architecture gave way to a teaching career in geography and art and all three of t hese interests morphed easily, in retirement, into travel and the painting of urban, rural and marine landscapes, preferably on location, in watercolours, or studio painting in acrylic.
Fred has travelled and painted extensively throughout Canada, including the Yukon and Baffin Island, in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, in Mexico, in many European countries, including Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Germany, England, Scotland and Ireland, as well as in parts of the Middle East, such as Turkey and Israel.
He has had group shows, father and daughter shows, and a recent show with four other family members. Solo shows have been hung at Harbour Gallery, Valhalla Inn, Manna Gallery, Wild Wings Gallery, Gallery 306, Masterangelo Gallery and at the University of St. Michael’s College. He has exhibited locally in Toronto, Kitchener, Guelph, Brantford, Aurora, Schomberg, and farther afield, in South Carolina and in Jerusalem.
