Q: |
How does Easel.ca work? |
| |
A: |
Easel.ca acts as the middle agent between artists and their customers.
First, the artist creates their own personal micro-gallery, and uploads images that represent the work they've created.
It is important that artists do not sell one-of-a-kind original creations anywhere else, or if this does occur, that the item is immediately removed from their online gallery, so that it is not purchased twice!
Art enthusiasts browse the site and buy a piece of art that they feel will add to their living space, audio repertoire or library.
When a sale is finalized, Easel informs the artist and buyer with confirmation emails.
It is up to the artist, in conjunction with Easel, to ship their own items to the buyer. Shipping is paid for by the customer at the point of purchase. The artist ships on behalf of Easel.
Once the artwork is confirmed received by the buyer, a cheque for the sales amount less commission is sent to the artist.

| |
Q: |
What are the requirements in order to be considered as a Featured Artist on the main page? |
| |
A: |
In order to be considered as a featured artist you must have a complete member profile including a biography and one bio picture. The bio picture does not have to be of yourself, it can be reflective of your work as an artist or of a particular theme that motivates you. Ultimately your membership in the easel community and what you do with it all depends on you. Odds are, the more you put in the more you will get out of it. |

Does Easel print my works and ship them for me?
|
| |
A: |
At this time prints can not be made through Easel. The works on Easel are shipped by the artist to the customer.
Printing through Easel is one of many things on our agenda; we hope to have this service available to artists in the near future. |

Q: |
What if I don't want to sell my item yet, or just want it to be available for review by visitors and artists? |
| |
A: |
If the item is a submission to the See or Feel exhibits set the quantity to 0 when uploading/setting up the item's details. That way it won't be for sale but will still be available for review. |

Q: |
Does the image on your site accurately represent what I will receive? |
| |
A: |
The images on Easel are provided by the artists themselves for the most part unless they are photographed by a third party – usually a professional photographer commissioned to do portfolio archive work. This means that while not guaranteeing that what you see is what you get, it is in the artists' best interest to accurately represent their works through the images they upload. If the work received is not what was originally displayed, customers have 30 days from the date of receiving their purchased work to return it for a full refund, minus return shipping charges. |

Q: |
How do I know if the item I wish to buy is in stock and hasn’t been sold to anyone else? |
| |
A: |
Artists representing themselves and their works on Easel comply with the terms of use and registration. This ensures that the works for sale through Easel can only be sold through the online storefront provided to them, unless the item is taken down from the online storefront. If something is for sale on Easel, you can be assured that it can be purchased. Once an item has been purchased, it is automatically labeled as sold and can not be sold twice. |

Q: |
What is a Limited Edition print? |
| |
A: |
A Limited Edition is a series of identical prints which are limited to a one-time printing of a certain number of pieces. The artist determines the size of the edition, and usually signs and numbers each individual piece. |
|
|
| |
Q: |
Will the value of a Limited Edition print increase like the value of an original painting or photo?
|
| |
A: |
By the nature of their being limited in number, demand for certain Limited Edition prints can be higher than the number of reproductions produced for the edition. Once an edition is sold out (the print is no longer available from the publisher but may still be available from an authorized dealer), the prints become part of the Secondary Market. This means that the print can be bought and sold by any dealer or individual, often above issue price, depending on supply and demand. |
